Music Inspired Birthday card
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know one of my hobbies is making cards for family and friends. I draw my inspiration from just about anything (clothes, movies, cities, sports, typography, more clothes, you get the idea). Each card I make has to say something about the person I make it for. They are each unique in their own way. It’s my way of letting that person know they are important to me.
When I set out to make my best girl Halina’s card the other night, it took me a while to come up with the concept. I don’t like to repeat myself. Then there’s my need to always top the card made the year prior (here’s one of my favorites I made for her). Sometimes I spend days thinking about a concept and other times it just hits me. This was one I had to noodle over.
Two things come to mind for me when I think of Halina:
Music - concerts, play lists, festivals…the girl LOVES music
Dresses - she never wears one twice! seriously, not kidding..but she is working on that.
Once I knew these were my main themes, I took to Pinterest to get inspiration (do you follow me? if not, you really should!). I have a board for card inspiration and another for color combos. This is where I began and it lead to this pin inspiring my card.
I never know how something is going to work out until I get in and play around. Then I adjust as needed. I can’t really describe it. I just mix and match various things until I get the look I’m going for. Rocket science I tell ya! So what do you think? Like it?
